Job OverviewThe Communications Officer performs a variety of duties in the operation of the City's Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) communication system including answering Emergency 911 and other calls from the general public requesting Police, Fire, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Utilities, other agencies and departments within the City of Milledgeville.
Duties also include dispatching police officer's to the scenes of crimes, violations, or in response to requests. Candidate must be able to distinguish between emergency and non-emergency calls. The Communications Officer is also responsible for maintaining the records of the police department, verifies and updates stolen vehicles and/or wanted individuals through NCIC/GCIC systems. Work is performed with specific instructions and in accordance with departmental regulations. The Communciations Officers is supervised by superior officers who review reports and records submitted for compliance with departmental policies. Work is peformed in an office setting typicallys sitting at a desk or table. |
