"Our best today for a better tomorrow"

 

The Milledgeville Police Department sponsors an Explorer Program which is part of Learning for Life career education for young adults, both male and female, ages 14 through 20 who have an interest in the law enforcement profession.

The Explorers are taught proper procedures in all aspects of law enforcement.  They also attend conferences and competitions throughout the southeast region and provide security for different functions throughout the community.

Members of Post 139 attended a firearms training course on May 14, 2005 taught by Sergeant Andrew Wood.  Members of the Post were taught the fundamentals of handguns safety, proper procedures to use with a handgun, and were given the opportunity to try out their skill.

Requirements for Entry:

 

Be Between the ages of 14 and 20

Have no criminal record or background

Be in good standing at school

Be interested in law enforcement as either a career option or as a personal interest

Be in good standing with the Milledgeville Police Department and all of its officers and staff

Not be affiliated with any cults, gangs, or organized crime

Not be affiliated with any other Police Explorer post or unit
