CRITICAL INCIDENT RESPONSE TEAM
(C.I.R.T.)
The Milledgeville Police Department’s Critical Incident Response Team (C.I.R.T.) was formed in May 2007 and is primarily responsible for the execution of high-risk arrest and search warrants within the city limits. C.I.R.T. also responds to any hostage situation, barricaded gunman, or other critical incidents when necessary. C.I.R.T. is commanded by a department Lieutenant and composed of two team leaders and nine operators, representing the patrol, and criminal investigation divisions of the department. Being a member of C.I.R.T. is secondary to the officers’ regular duties and many of the members devote off-duty time to training in order to help make the team successful.
